COMING SOON – A CD: In recent months Jimmy has been immersed in the years 1972-75, completing some of the very first songs he came up with as a naïve and ambitious teenager. The album Teenage Angst will be available on CD as well as the usual mp3 download. WARNING: this album contains a 10 ½ minute epic about a girl he had a thing about. Those of you who know about such things may hear the influence of other music of that time such as Van der Graaf Generator, Beggars Opera, Ralph McTell, ELP and The Who.
Jimmy McKenna has been making up tunes and turning them into songs since before he could actually play an instrument. His first public appearance was miming to ‘She Loves You’ by the Beatles for which he won a lollipop. Surely fame and fortune were beckoning……….Since 1995 Jimmy has recorded songs mainly in collaboration with Gavin Bell on bass and Jason Bell on drums. Jimmy’s other albums are those recorded without the overall collaboration of others whilst the musicians featured were procured and coerced to satisfy the requirements of the song, notably where guitar parts required a little precision in their execution. Jimmy’s other non-solo music can be found on the DisGuise page. Some of Gavin’s early music can be found on The Ranch page. Jimmy has been interviewed by Gary Alikivi: here is Part One, and here is Part Two:
