Polite Warning: the aforesaid recordings contain a bucketful of braggadocio, a mighty portion of misogyny, an armageddon of righteous anger, with a side helping of wallowing self-pity to add authenticity. Jimmy assures us that what passes for normal service will soon be resumed when a further collection of the peculiar songs he creates with his TVA ensemble will be released.
Unreliable Recollections from Jimmy McKenna (subject to amendment as better facts come to light!)
I realised that I had amassed a number of straight forwardish bluesy type rock type ideas. That Dave Knox came and played drums and Gavin Bell added his bass
Play Some Rock n Roll – In 2019 I was jamming with my eight year old grandsons (myself on acoustic guitar, Isaac on keyboard, and Oliver on guitar) and we were made a helluva racket! Our performance comprised a series of one chord chants and this was one of them.
The Midas Touch – no idea what this is actually about, but it rocks.
The Bloody Blues – probably the nearest I can get to the blues, though it does go off kilter.
I Feel So Good – a much more straightforward bluesy rock tune.
The Games We Play – the feel is almost Fleetwood Mac.
Paddington’s Hard Stare – and suddenly we are in the land of the FREEish courtesy of Gavin’s bass and I appear to be having a bit of a go at some unnamed person.
Another Fine Mess – an instrumental
I Don’t Care – More bluesey whinging, like you do.
8.45 – This is my version of a song which Peter Scott, Geoff Grange and Micky Kay first jammed out c1975
I Deserve Much Better Than This – Oh no, more whinging!
Sorry Stupid – Well we have all made errors and had to live with them.
Bad Boy – Another cover version .This was a 1959 (self written) single by Marty Wilde which my family had. The original really good.
